What’s in & What’s out for 2026?

By Romy Haddad

Every year brings new trends, but 2026 stands out as a reset! From fashion and beauty to lifestyle and culture, people are moving away from the 2025 trends that prioritize excessiveness. This year’s “ins” and “outs” list reflects what students are actually wearing, using, and valuing.

Simple Glam or Natural Beauty?

Natural makeup, simple hairstyles, and confidence in your personal, authentic look are in! Extreme glam for school, exact copies of influencer looks and overly complicated 15-step beauty routines are out. The focus is on you being yourself and keeping things appropriate for school.

School Life and Mental Health

Prioritizing sleep, asking for help when needed, balancing schoolwork with hobbies and friends, and studying smarter rather than longer are in. Bragging about exhaustion, pulling all-nighters as a badge of honor, ignoring stress until it becomes overwhelming, and treating school pressure like it’s a competition are OUT!  Students are learning that mental well-being is part of being successful. So, get your beauty sleep, complete those assignments on time and don’t stress too much over classwork!

Social Attitudes

Being yourself confidently, supporting friends, respecting classmates’ interests, and allowing people to enjoy what they like are all in. Gossiping , making fun of others for their hobbies or style, or keeping a fake social circle are out! Similarly, academics are shifting toward real effort: completing work on time, using planners, respecting teachers, and taking pride in achievements are in, whereas cheating, minimal effort, class disruption, or pretending school doesn’t matter are out.

Overall, 2026 is a year where students can focus on being themselves, making life easier, and leaving the unnecessary stress and fake trends behind!
