Brand New Med High Podcast!

By Zoe Christodoulidou-Bosko

As most of you have seen or at least heard about, our school created for the first time a podcast as a way to celebrate the 30 years since its founding. Some Year 6 students have said they ‘made history’ as the first to successfully bring this amazing idea to life. I have asked one of the participating Year  6 students, Leticia, to tell us some more details about the podcast.

1) How did you come up with this idea?

“Well, to be honest the teachers came up with this fun project which was considered to be an extra bonus for our grades; however, we did not treat it as an exam or an RTA assessment. Instead, it turned out to be so much fun, that doing it did not seem like work but something that we really wanted to do. It was really amazing to learn some new facts about our school that we didn’t know about.”

    2) What was the best part of participating in this podcast?

“Firstly, the best part was that we worked all together as a group to achieve it. Creating memories with my classmates and teachers throughout the process felt like we were leaving our footprints behind. I actually had more fun preparing the podcast than filming it. Researching the school’s background, its history, learning about the different staff members and hearing about the teachers’ stories felt really touching and nostalgic.”

    3) What were your feelings during the creation of the podcast?

“On the days of filming, we got really emotional because I just really wish we had known all of this earlier. We never really understood where we were or the stories that this place holds; and it’s kind of a shame that we only truly appreciate them now just as we were about to leave as seniors.”

    4) How do you feel about knowing the teachers better now?

“Now that I know more about them, I feel a lot closer to them: not necessarily in the sense that we talk all the time, but in a way that I understand and appreciate them so much more. Hearing their stories of how they started and how they grew together gave me a new kind of respect for them. It made me realize just now how much heart and history there is behind the people who teach us every day.”

“It helped me to finally understand what people mean when they say ‘Med High is a family’. We’ve always said that jokingly, but through this podcast, I saw that it’s actually true. There’s something really meaningful happening here that we don’t always notice. I hope that in the future, I and others can work in a place that has this kind of deep connection, where we can create this kind of family together.”

Personally, I couldn’t agree more with these beautiful, heartwarming answers. It is really a beauty to know the behind the scenes and learn about each and everyone not just in the school, but generally people around the world. We should appreciate people’s work more and appreciate the fact that we can have such wonderful teachers being by our side and helping us to become better.

So do not miss out on these podcasts videos, you can see them on the school’s Instagram page or YouTube channel. Don’t miss out and listen to all the amazing stories that the teacher’s will uncover for us!!
