Greek Play 2025

By Zoe Christodoulidou-Bosko

On Tuesday, the 18th of March, our school performed a humorous play for students called “THE STRONGEST PERSON IN THE WORLD”. The unique thing about this performance was that it was presented in Greek by the students participating. The ones who participated in the show had the chance to reveal their talents in acting and to show their love of language. Students and teachers worked very hard to make the show come to life.

The plot summary of this play was about a school janitor who, after 40 years of service, is at risk of losing his job because he does not have the required qualification for his position. So he decides to attend the 6th grade in order to obtain the diploma. However, an unexpected earthquake will disturb the lives of all the teachers and students at the school.

During the play we could see how the main character faces the challenges of getting his diploma making it interesting what will happen to him later on. The turning point of the earthquake created an exciting yet very stressful environment. The challenges and emotions were perfectly played by the students emphasizing a meaningful message behind the scenes.

This particular message is that education is possible at any age, how you can achieve anything you put your mind to and how even sometimes obstacles can be seen as unable to solve yet with determination and resilience we are capable of overcoming these challenges.

I personally find it very interesting how humour can be a teaching tool. The blend of humour in a serious play can teach more and provide meaningful lessons especially for students. One of the main actors of this show was briefly interviewed about his experience working on this play:

“We all got ready to perform, feeling both excited and nervous. As we said our lines, the audience watched closely, and we did our best to bring the play to life. When it was over, we took a bow, feeling proud of what we have accomplished. I am especially grateful to our teachers who worked behind the scenes, handling the lights, sound, costumes and so much more, as well as to everyone who helped make the show possible. It was a wonderful team effort and an unforgettable experience!”

Once again the Drama department made a very entertaining show, creating an active period for students and encouraging more students to show their hidden talents once again. It was a truly lovely show and congratulations to everyone who took part in it!!
