Something New!

Our school joined the Erasmus programme which is an amazing opportunity for students to experience something new! Some of our Year 5 students had the opportunity to take part in this programme and go to Germany to a small city for a week and were accompanied by two of our teachers, Mr Peki and Mr Antonios, who made the trip an unforgettable memory full of laughter and fun! Everyone was chosen to be with a German student who had been assigned to be in this programme, and the matches were made by their teachers as well as our own. Our students were living with their hosts and their families for one whole week. Of course at first everyone finds it strange that they would have to live with someone who they have never met before but sometimes it’s a good challenge to step out of your comfort zone. 

This programme gave our students the chance to look into the different lifestyles each family has, and also gave them a taste of how it is to live in Germany. Some students thought it was quite cold, so they might prefer the Mediterranean temperature, but aside from this the city they were residing in was beautiful. There was a wide variety of greenery and many fields which made it look extremely mesmerising and appealing towards our students. A sight for sore eyes, really. The German teachers had planned many activities for everybody to engage in during their stay but when they had free time, our students jumped at the chance to hang out with their hosts along with everybody else who took part in the programme. This led them to discover many more parts and secret gems of Germany which helped make this trip an extremely memorable and fun experience.

This trip gave our students new friendships to cherish along with unforgettable memories. We are sure that they are extremely grateful to have embarked on this journey and to have made many friends and memories upon this adventure!

The moral of the story is: if you ever thought of applying to the Erasmus programme, try it because it is an experience that you will never forget, as the memories obtained from the trip will stay with you forever.
