The Football Tournament

By Lara Walder

Flying popcorn, fake injuries and secret admirers! The Med High Football Tournament which took place on Friday the 11th of October, was most definitely an unforgettable event! From the music to the drama, everyone was having a good time; laughing with their friends, shouting at the players on the field and gossiping about the teams they wanted to win. This tournament sure was special.

The Year 6 class sold… WHAT?!?!

The 2025 Seniors of our school definitely got consumed by the brainrot… They were selling Prime. Sure, a modern twist from what all of the previous seniors did, but was it worth it? THEY COMPLETELY SOLD OUT! So yes. It worked. Is this somewhat concerning? Also yes, but it sure was profitable for the Year 6 students and it is definitely something they are going to consider for future events… Nonetheless, they put on quite a display: playing Drake music from their speakers and bargaining their way for a euro more to go to their beloved class trip definitely created a unique atmosphere.

‘WOOOOOOOO! I am so excited, we got some good music, guys. Come join us!’ This pretty much sums up the energy that the seniors working at the stand felt, as they were extremely excited for their first event, and rightfully so as it definitely turned out to be a big success!

THE POPCORN MASSACRE!

The Year 6 class even had their own fireworks! Now, I bet you’re probably thinking ‘No they didn’t, they don’t even have the budget for that!’. Well, these fireworks included a football and a huge batch of displayed popcorn! Safe to say it didn’t end well…

Gasps and shocked looks were evident from pretty much everyone: teachers, Year 6 students and almost all of the spectators, who watched the ball as it went from foot, to sky, to popcorn buckets. I don’t think that’s the goal, but do they get a point for that?

Neymar, is that you?

‘Next time he does that, RED! Off the pitch. He won’t be playing.’

‘Tell him if he does that again, he won’t play again.’

Tensions rose when the Year 6 coaches recognised an injury faker among the players on the pitch. I say sign him up to an official team, he’d definitely fit in with them in that aspect! Crowds of people surrounded him, watching him roll around in ‘pain’ and clutching his leg, but was he really in pain? We still aren’t sure, but according to our furious Coaches he was ‘legit faking it’. In all fairness though, doesn’t that just make him more of an authentic football player? Neymar, is that you?

A Football Throwdown?

Where there’s football, there’s bound to be an argument. One of our team managers, who described his team’s status on the field in a form of gibberish, ‘Absolute “demolulation“‘, bumped heads with one of the rival spectators, where ‘he’s yapping too much!’ is heard from a Year 1 spectator during his interview, angered with his statement. This manager fired back to the spectator mercilessly, where he mentioned how his team has ‘scored zero goals’, and how ‘they happen to have some guy from Year 5 join their team just so they don’t get embarrassed’. Ouch!

The Grade 6 class emerges victorious!

First and foremost, we congratulate all of the Grade 6 that won the football tournament! Their hard work paid off, and we had many Grade 6 supporters in the crowd: from teachers like Miss Georgina who said she wants the Grade 6 to win because ‘they are kids’, to Grade 4 students who were there to watch a special someone on the field…

‘I want Grade 6 [to win] because my crush is in Grade 6

My crush [from Grade 6] just fell

These Grade 6 sure have their well-deserved share of fans, and admirers for that matter, and despite playing against teams much older than them they still managed to pull through and emerge as the winners of the tournament. We hope they enjoy their prize of free tickets to the halloween party on the 1st of November! See you there!
